A professional course in mass communication opens doors for a career in films & TV publishing public relations, journalism. editing direction filmmaking, scriptwriting, production, etc. In nutshell, Mass Communication widens up the horizon of career options for a person. Depending upon personal interest and inclination a mass communication professional can choose a job. Attractive and high paying jobs as journalist actor, director, editor, screenwriter. RJ, producer, VJ are available to the talented and trained individuals. Post-graduate degree in journalism/mass communication is required to pursue a career in this field. Specialized training or experience, field work or Internship increases one’s opportunities in the field This course is highly employment oriented, thus some of the students from the department got employment even after completing the first year of course. Most of the former students of the department are highly placed in various media houses.

The candidate should be a graduate in any discipline with 50% marks. Admission will be made purely on merit basis.

ਬੀ.ਏ.ਸਮੈਸਟਰ-ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਫਾਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਜੁੱਟ, ਦਾਖ਼ਲੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਕਾਊਂਸਲਿੰਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਭਰਨਗੇ । ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਅੰਗਰੇਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੇਠ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਰੁੱਪਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਰ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਚੁਣਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੋਈ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਚੁਣੇਗਾ :-

ਬੀ.ਏ ਸਮੈਸਟਰ –ਪਹਿਲਾ (ਸਮੈਸਟਰ ਸਿਸਟਮ): ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਕੂਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬੋਰਡ ਤੋਂ +2 ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਜਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਮਾਨਤਾ –ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ , ਬੀ.ਏ. ਸਮੈਸਟਰ –ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਾਖ਼ਲਾ ਲੈਣ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ ।
ਬੀ.ਏ ਸਮੈਸਟਰ –ਦੂਜਾ (ਸਮੈਸਟਰ ਸਿਸਟਮ): ਜਿਸ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਨੇ ਬੀ.ਏ. ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਮੈਸਟਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਲੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੁੱਲ ਪੇਪਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ 50% ਪੇਪਰ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਣ ।
ਬੀ.ਏ.ਭਾਗ –ਤੀਜਾ(ਸਮੈਸਟਰ ਸਿਸਟਮ): ਜਿਸ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਨੇ ਬੀ.ਏ. ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੀ ਸਮੈਸਟਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਲੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੁੱਲ ਪੇਪਰਾਂ (4 ਸਮੈਸਟਰਾਂ ) ਦੇ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ 50%ਪੇਪਰ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਣ ।
ਨੋਟ :ਮੈਥੇਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਦਾ +2 ਵਿੱਚ ਗਣਿਤ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਪਾਸ ਹੋਣਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ ।

About the Department- History of the Department
Department of Journalism and Mass Communication came into existence in 2006 under the headship of Prof. Amanpreet Kaur Randhawa with Introduction of MA (JMC). JMC department offered Journalism as an elective subject at undergraduate level in 2011 with the purpose to impart basic knowledge in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication and create interest in the young generation. BA (JMC) was started in 2014.
Vision of the Department
Department offers an opportunity for young, dynamic students who desire to make a mark in the field of media and information dissemination. In today’s fast growing media industry, Department is trying to play its best role to nurture talent that will help to create a completely new media environment founded on social consciousness and ethics
Keeping in tune with the vision of the college, the Department envisions to incorporate larger social responsibilities in the students. The department has its eyes set at much higher goals than just producing quickly employable media students. We are grooming our pupils to emerge as strategic decision makers for tomorrow’s media business that would not be bereft of ethical and moral values.
Infrastructure
To meet the requirements for practical grooming of students, Department has a well established studio. A YouTube channel DJMC Mata Gujri College is successfully running from past 6 years. Department is housed with Digital cameras, advanced lab, television and projectors. These facilities help in polishing the practical aspectof academics.
